Privacy Policy

Effective September 13, 2026. How we collect, use, and share your information, and what this Site's content is and is not.

Dementia Steady ("we," "us," or "our") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use dementiasteady.com and the Steady Check assessment tool at dementiasteady.com/check (together, the "Site"), and is incorporated into our Terms of Use.

Please read this Policy before you use the Site or submit information to us. By using the Site or submitting information to us, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described here.

We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll change the effective date above when we do. Continuing to use the Site after an update means you accept the revised Policy.

1. Disclaimer

The content on this Site, including every situation guide, field card, the Steadier Ground Method, the family course, and the professional training materials, is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not medical, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for the judgment of a licensed physician or other qualified health care provider who knows your specific situation.

Dementia Steady is written and operated independently by Matt Field. We are not a healthcare provider, and using this Site does not create a doctor-patient relationship, a care-provider relationship, or any other professional relationship between you and us.

The Site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Your use of the Site is at your own risk. We do not guarantee that following any guide, card, course module, or recommendation on this Site will produce any particular outcome, and nothing here should be read as a promise of results, whether for a family managing a diagnosis at home or for an organization using Steady Check or the team self-assessment.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. For free, 24/7 caregiver support, call the Alzheimer's Association Helpline at 1-800-272-3900.

2. How We Collect Information

Information you provide. Certain parts of the Site let you submit information to us, including:

If you write about the person you care for in one of these boxes, please describe the situation rather than including that person's name or other identifying details. We don't need them to help you, and we'd rather you not have to worry about where they end up.

Information we collect automatically. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall traffic to the Site, such as which pages are visited and roughly how much. It's a cookieless service: it does not use tracking cookies, does not build a profile of you individually, and does not follow you across other websites. We do not otherwise use cookies or third-party ad-tracking tools on this Site.

Information stored on your device. A few pages use your browser's local storage, not our servers, to remember something about your visit: the guide pages remember that you've already unlocked a guide to read online, and the practice page remembers which exercises you've completed. Neither is ever sent to us. The free course, at course.dementiasteady.com, saves your progress and anything you've written in it the same way, so it's there when you come back. It also sets a cookie on your device once you activate your enrollment link, so you don't need a new link on every visit; unlike the local storage above, that cookie is read by the course site to confirm you're enrolled, but it carries no personal information itself and isn't shared beyond that. You can clear any of this any time through your browser's settings.

3. How We Use and Share Information

We use the information you provide to:

We share your information only with the service providers who help us run the Site, each of whom may use it only to provide that service to us: Netlify, which hosts the Site and processes form submissions; Kit, which sends the emails you sign up for; Airtable, which stores course enrollment and Steady Check records; and Cloudflare, for the aggregate analytics described above.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We may disclose it if required by law or legal process, to protect the security of the Site, or if Dementia Steady is ever acquired or transferred, in which case this Policy would continue to apply to your information under the new owner.

4. How We Protect and Store Information

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you submit, but no website is completely secure, and we can't guarantee your information will never be disclosed or lost through circumstances outside our control. We keep your information for as long as we need it for the purposes described here, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

5. Your Choices

Every email from us includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email info@dementiasteady.com with "unsubscribe" in the subject line, and we'll remove you.

If you're a California resident, or you live somewhere else with a similar state privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we have about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale. We don't sell personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of there. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address above.

6. Children and Privacy

This Site is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us at info@dementiasteady.com and we'll delete it.

7. Do Not Track

Our Site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals. As described above, we don't use tracking cookies regardless of that setting.

8. External Links

The Site links to outside resources, including the Alzheimer's Association, the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, the Eldercare Locator, and Poison Control. The family course and Steady Check are also ours, each on its own address, and each may note its own data handling where it differs from this Policy. We don't control other websites we link to and aren't responsible for their privacy practices. Once you leave our Site, this Policy no longer applies.
